What's a Zealot?

Webster's New World Dictionary, Second College Edition, says, in part:

zeal (zeel), n ...  intense enthusiasm, as in working for a cause; ardent endeavor or devotion ... zealot implies extreme or excessive devotion to a cause and vehement activity in its support.

What made us Zealots?

bullet Linda was consulting with a government agency to develop a long-term breastfeeding strategy.
bullet She called it like it was, quoting the Year 2000 Health Goal to Increase breastfeeding to 75% and observing that it could also be phrased as a goal to decrease artificial feeding to 25%.
bullet Calling Linda a zealot for quoting policy and their own lip service, the officials who hired Linda to develop a breastfeeding promotion strategy said they weren't convinced breastfeeding was much better than formula.

If stating medical and policy facts makes us Zealots, so be it.
